What’s the difference?
Traditionally, plumbing snakes are long metal cables with an auger tip attached to the end and powered by either electricity or a hand crank. The cable is extended through the pipe catching the clog so when it is retrieved the clog comes out. This can be an effective method of clearing out small soft clogs and slow drains in kitchen sinks, toilets and vent stacks. The big drawback is plumbing snakes can only open up a hole as big as the head of the auger.
When it comes to clearing sewer lines, a hydro jet can be much more effective. Hydro jets consist of a long hose with a jetter head on the end. They use high-pressure water to break up and clear out large clogs and heavy root incursion. Hydro jetting can also clear out sewer lines in order to be properly inspected by one of our experienced plumbing professionals. Using a snake is a fairly common form of clearing household lines and can be done by the household handyman (that means you Dad). On the flip side, hydro jetting should be done by a trusted expert with experience using the tool. If this is not done by a professional, the results could be disastrous and could result in weakening or even breaking parts of the sewer line. Hydro jetting is the most effective way to clear sewer lines and Mister Sewer has the tools and knowledge to provide 100% customer satisfaction.
